In 2009, Punch Drunk had the privilege of producing and directing video for an inimitable production: The Prodigy, Kaskade, and LA Riots. We were awestruck to work with such phenomenal artists, particularly The Prodigy, who so rarely make an appearance in the Northwest.
For the show, we set up multiple levels of video projection screens. We had it all, from an upstage line to flanking screens to a series of plasma monitors on stage.
For USC 12, we created a library of original motion graphics loops to mix into our VJ set and iMag show. The branded video loops are for the event it self (USC 12) and The Prodigy.
Was really amazing to see sooo many people SOOO into the shows. Ooh, the energy… Each night was fully charged! Seattle was bigger than the others – more of a rave atmosphere than strictly a Prodigy show, with more artists playing first (haven’t seen The Crystal Method for years, very cool live show, and Kaskade and LA Riots had the people movin’). Kind of a different venue too, much more open and spread out compared to the other shows which were in big, dark and gritty, aged theaters with huge balconies overlooking the stage. This one was located right next to the big baseball stadium in the city, part of the same building – where a game was playing that night too. Different feel but still really fun.
