Microsoft Kin Launch Party

Wexley School For Girls
2010
Live Production Motion Graphics Video Projection
Working with existing style boards and reference media, Punch Drunk created a dazzling multiple-projection environment that acted as the final destination for opening gala attendees, where they could experience the device via our video projection backdrop.

Background

In 2010, Microsoft launched a visionary mobile device called "KIN." It only lasted a few months on the market; alas, the world wasn't yet ready...

The launch party in San Francisco was helmed by creative powerhouse Wexley School for Girls (sadly now defunct), with whom Punch Drunk enjoyed many creative excursions.

Overview

Wexley hired Punch Drunk to assist with the gala launch party in San Francisco to create dynamic, immersive video environments that would showcase the device’s user experience.

Prior to the show, we produced a variety of animations showcasing the brand look and interface. On location in San Francisco, we deployed computers loaded with Modul8 to handle all the projection mapping and recreated the various branded looks on the fly.
