Jib Crane Lighting Design Multi-Camera Video Creation
We designed a hybrid UHD/HD multicam system using Canon C300s and C500s, with triple redundant backups on AJA KiPros and KiPro quads. Our time with talent (JJ Watt) was limited, so we built the system to be totally robust with multiple failsafes in order to maximize the shoot window.

Overview

  • When Xbox and Gatorade teamed up to create an athlete-driven title for Xbox Fitness, they brought Punch Drunk on board to produce the shoot.
  • We developed a hybrid UHD/HD multicam system utilizing Canon C300s and C500s, featuring triple-redundant backups on AJA KiPros and KiPro Quads.
  • With limited time with talent (JJ Watt), we engineered the system to be fully robust with multiple failsafes, ensuring maximum efficiency during the shoot.
  • By designing the project as if it were a live broadcast, we provided instant multicam views to the client in real-time from our four camera angles (jib crane, tight shot, wide shot, dana dolly).
  • All acquisition was RAW/LOG, and then a Rec709 LUT was applied in real-time to the client multivew monitor.
  • After the shoot the MediaLab team at Microsoft handled all post and final content delivery.
  • Now the title is available to download on your Xbox. If you’re ready to sweat, give it a shot!
