YouTube @ Sundance Sizzle Reel
Overview
In 2014, YouTube launched it’s first “activation” at the Sundance Film Festival: they took over a 2-story boutique on Main Street and transformed it into a winter-lodge ultra-lounge, replete with two bars, on-site barista, daily yoga classes, Google Glass demos, and 23 events including film premiere parties and concerts with Cults and Damon Albarn.
Experiential marketing and advertising agency Say OK brought Punch Drunk on board to handle all the video systems throughout the space. We built a huge LCD-based video wall that overtook the entire back wall where we helped YouTube curate extensive playlists during the day and iMag and visuals at night.
We connected the two levels with fiber optics so guests in the upstairs lounge could enjoy the concerts below on massive flat screens. During presentations and premiers we created custom content on-the-fly and did live VJ mix shows during DJ sets with Neon Indian and James Murphy.
Over 6,200 Sundance attendees (about a third of everybody there) enjoyed the space during the course of the festival.
